Bristol Voices

Bristol Voices is the choral outreach programme of Bristol Cathedral in partnership with Bristol Cathedral Choir School.

There are several strands to the programme:

The Bristol Voices choir meets on a Monday at Bristol Cathedral School from 4.30-5.30pm. We aim to create exciting, high quality singing opportunities for young people through innovative ways of sharing choral expertise. The choir mainly caters for primary school children and singers from the age of 8 and older are welcome to join. There is no audition; children just come along to enjoy themselves. It is hoped in the future that singers might remain in the choir until the end of Year 7 or 8. Performances are mainly in Bristol Cathedral throughout the year, though other opportunities and venues are always being sought. Membership could also open up the possibility of auditioning for further, more advanced choirs.
Please contact choir@bristolvoices.co.uk for further details.

The Chorister Outreach Programme involves a choral animateur working in nominated schools (up to 9 schools a year) to provide help and guidance as well as to encourage teacher development opportunities. As part of the Programme, the Cathedral choristers visit the schools to give the pupils an insight into the life of a chorister and share in their music-making. Perhaps the most significant benefit of is in raising aspirations, particularly in young boys and there is a concert in Bristol Cathedral each term where the schools come together to perform with the choristers.

Bristol Voices is very keen to work in schools that wish to further develop their singing culture, and we sincerely hope that involvement in the Chorister Outreach Programme will create an appetite to progress and excel with music in their schools.
